£40,025 after training with regular pay rises
Caring for our military animals is a calling without compare. As a Veterinary Officer, you’ll lead our Military Working Animal capability to keep our animals fit and healthy so they can protect and serve our forces on the ground.
You’ll go above and beyond civilian veterinary roles and do something with a bigger impact; keeping a critical line of support and defence in action. That means you won’t just be saving animals, you’ll be protecting people and places by proxy. As an Officer, you’ll lead the soldiers under your command, making quick decisions and helping to determine our operational success.
On top of dealing with animal health issues – the kind you’d see in civilian practice – you’ll take on new challenges that only the Army can offer. This includes advising on disease controls and biosecurity to prevent the spread of infectious disease. You’ll also travel to hostile environments and give crucial animal care to those on the front line, where and when it’s needed most.
GAIN QUALIFICATIONS, LEARN NEW SKILLS
As a qualified vet, you have the skills, training and knowledge your Army needs. We give you the chance to take those skills further, being part of something that’s bigger than you and has an impact that stretches around the world. From the moment you join the Army, you’ll be set on a clear path for promotion and progression, receiving all the support and opportunity you need to rise through the ranks and unleash your potential.
But we’ll also prepare you for a life outside of the Army by providing you with opportunities to get qualifications that are recognised by civilian employers. Whether you’re newly qualified or an experienced practitioner, we can help you obtain your Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice (Cert AVP), and even study towards a MSc.
It doesn’t stop there. As an Army Vet, you’ll get the best military and professional training there is. As well as learning basic soldiering, you’ll learn the specialist skills you need to become an expert in your role. With Army Officer training, we’ll help you to become the best you can be.
