About the Opportunity Pitney Bowes Software (PBS) is recruiting a Data Engineer to join their Data Development team in Henley-on-Thames. The Data Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, researching and creating new spatial data products and improving existing products and production processes using big data technologies. PBS is looking for an enthusiastic innovation minded individual to work in a small team as part of a larger global team with the latest European and global datasets, to find new applications and to help solve PBS's customer problems. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data Development team within a rapidly expanding and market-leading global technology company at a key stage in its development. Build. Deploy. Bridge. Grow. Responsibilities • Responsible for aspects of new and existing data development and data integration using content-based data products. Expected to take ownership of specific EMEA products and become the domain expert and to project lead where necessary. • Design production processes using ETL tools, GIS and big data technologies, • Develop new products and associated specifications/supporting docs in collaboration with global teams and product managers • Work effectively with data engineers in other teams across the world on global data products and global project teams. Qualifications • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience working with spatial and non-spatial data. • Proficiency in data integration with RDBMS technologies such as Oracle/SQL Server/Postgres,PL-SQL, T-SQL • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one of the following languages -R, Python, Hadoop Languages, C#, Java, • Experience of development with data processing frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop • Effectively work independently and as part of a global team spread across various time zones Preferred Qualifications • Degree/Diploma - ideally in spatial or related sciences • Experience with ETL tools, continuous delivery & GIS Software • Experience of using AWS for development • DevOps mentality, someone comfortable taking an idea from development to production • Experience working with Spatial Data • Understanding/experience of agile development, Scrum & Jira The Team Our Software team powers global commerce, processing billions of transactions every year.
