Stonewater’s Women’s Refuges aim to provide safe and secure accommodation to women and children fleeing any form of domestic abuse. We aim to provide emotional and practical support to empower women to take the next steps to gain full control of their future.
£8,400 pa (16 hours pw)
FTE of £21,000 (for 40 hrs)

Stonewater are looking for a Support Worker to provide an effective housing support service to the users of The Hamlet move-on accommodation for women and children who have fled domestic violence, giving support and advice whilst ensuring complete confidentiality towards the users of the service.
You will be responsible for effectively supporting residents to maintain their tenancy at the same time helping them to explore and understand safe relationships, and manage the complex issues that surround domestic abuse.
It’s important that you have experience of similar advice/support work with a vulnerable client group or in a residential care or support projects, and have knowledge of welfare benefit legislation and the issues around domestic violence.
You should be IT literate and competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as being able to work well both as part of a team, and alone. You should be organised with the ability to plan and prioritise your workload, using your own initiative.
Ideally you will have a full driving licence, as travel to and from the office base in Dorchester will be required. At least 6 months’ experience in public sector housing management is preferred.
The role involves working with vulnerable young people and adults, and as such Stonewater will require appropriate background checks, ie via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
