JOB TITLE: Fabricator / Welder
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary depending on skills and experience - salary paid at an hourly rate
WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday 8am - 4:30pm - overtime available but not guaranteed
THE COMPANY: Our client is a successful award winning engineering company who are contract manufacturers of complex, precision-engineering components and assemblies for UK customers in high technology growth sectors. They have multiple sites throughout the Cambridgeshire area with their main site located in March, Cambridgeshire. This Fabricator / Welder position will be based in Peterborough.
THE ROLE: Reporting to the Team Leader the Fabricator / Welder will be responsible for the welding, fabrication and finishing of components in stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminium using MIG and TIG welding processes - in accordance with drawing specification and production plans.
Key Responsibilities of a Fabricator / Welder to include:-
Expediting work to lists
Maintaining pride in what you do at all times
Maintaining Company quality standards at all times
Maintaining production efficiency across all disciplines
Troubleshooting manufacturing & production issues to a satisfactory conclusion
Responsible for monitoring and reporting lost time and making recommendations for improvement
Ensuring Company standards are maintained at all times
Carry out training needs and be part of relevant training solutions
Proactively communicate with other team members and the Team Leader at all times to ensure openness and transparency
THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a similar role. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be tidy and accurate. The Fabricator / Welder will have a good appreciation of Engineering Quality requirements. Our client is looking for someone with excellent communications skills who is able to encourage and enthuse younger team members.
Key skills and knowledge requirements for the role of Fabricator / Welder based in Peterborough:
Must live within a commutable distance of Peterborough.
It is essential that you have worked in an engineering environment in your previous employment
Will have previous experience of MIG and TIG Welding
Good capabilities in welding and fabrication of thin gauge materials and 3mm box section frames
Good understanding of modern computerised welding plant
Goods practical skills of all finishing grinding & dressing operations
Practical knowledge of planning and starting jobs in the correct way
Able to work well within a team, demonstrate willingness and flexibility as required.
Basic knowledge/awareness for continuous improvement
